异常的螺旋形耀斑

这不是DNA,它是1998年6月2日拍到的一次罕见但非常清晰的太阳螺旋状日冕喷

大团聚

Caption: Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn and the Sun all appear plainly in the same image sent to Earth on 15 May by the SOHO spacecraft. Also conspicuous in the picture is a famous star cluster, the Pleiades. This image of four planets around the Sun is another scoop for SOHO. Bright Venus entered the scene from the right on 13 May, while Mercury was on its way out on the left.

与太阳擦肩而过的彗星

Caption: Although comet NEAT (C/2002 V1) was not visible in the LASCO images until about 16:00 (Universal Time) on February 16, it had in fact been tracked by SOHO since December 31 last year. The color markup on the SWAN image (bottom) shows the paths traced out by the two comets NEAT and Kudo-Fujikawa. The red ellipse indicates the area where comet NEAT first becomes visible. As it disappears "over the edge" of the map, it enters on the other (left) side.

Caption: This EIT full sun image, taken on 14 September 1999 in the He II emission line at 304 A shows the upper chromosphere/lower transition region at a temperature of about 60,000 K. The bright features are called active regions. A huge erupting prominence escaping the Sun can be seen in the upper right part of the image. Prominences are "cool" 60,000 K plasma embedded in the much hotter surrounding corona, which is typically at temperatures above 1 million K. If an eruption like this is directed toward the Earth it can cause a significant amount of geomagnetic activity in the Earth's environment with a following spectacular aurora.

当然了,太阳是热的。科学家通过观察太阳在特定温度下各种化学物质的喷发现象,就可以更好地了解太阳的活动。这个橙色星球因此变成了一个多彩的实验室。这张由SOHO远紫外成像望远镜(EIT)拍摄的照片其实是由三种不同波长的照片合成的,每张照片的太阳特征都有其独特之处。它揭示了在三种温度超过 180,000华氏度(100,000摄氏度)的状态下电离铁的活动情况

两个南半球的日珥

这张照片摄于2003年3月18日,拍到了极为罕见的两个喷发突起物,每一个太阳突起物的高度都大约是地球直径25倍。可以清晰地观测到太阳表面形成的巨大黑子群释放出的气体和带电粒子流
